Once you reach Kathmandu you will be required to get a tourist visa from the Immigration office at Tribhuwan International Airport, which costs:
30 USD for 15 Days
50 USD for 30 Days
125 USD for 90 Days

The office is open 24/7. However, if you are entering Nepal by land you are required to get a visa in any of the border immigration. Please visit the official website for actual information. The current price and information regarding visa can be found here.

What should I pack?

Not surprisingly, there’s a lot to consider when you’re heading to the mountains. Start by packing your essential hiking gear, like a map and compass, an extra jacket and gloves, water bottles and snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray. Consider bringing along a first aid kit with essentials like bandages, antibiotic ointment, alcohol wipes, anti-inflammatory medication, and pain relievers. And don’t forget your contact lens solution! Check our Complete gear checklist for trekking in the Himalayas.

Safety Considerations

It is essential that you have the right hiking gear and clothing for your Annapurna Base Camp trek. One of the most important things to consider is safety. This region has a history of avalanches and landslides, so it’s important to know what to do if one occurs. The last thing you want is to be stuck at an elevation too high for you to handle! Be sure to pack sturdy shoes and bring a headlamp (just in case), as well as a first aid kit with supplies for blisters and altitude sickness.

What vaccinations do I need?

You should consult your doctor or a health care provider to see if you need any vaccinations before traveling to Nepal. The following vaccinations are recommended for Nepal by the World Health Organization:
1. Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine
2. Polio vaccine
3. Hepatitis A vaccine
4. Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine
5. Typhoid vaccination
6. A vaccination certificate showing a full dose of vaccination against COVID-19, completed at least 14 days prior to entering Nepal.
 or
If you are not being fully vaccinated, or have not completed a full dose of vaccination at least 14 days prior to arriving in Nepal, a COVID-19 test report (RT-PCR, Gene Expert, True NAAT, or WHO accredited test) showing negative result done within the last 72 hours of boarding from the first airport or, if you are entering through the land border, done within 72 hours of entry.

Do I need trekking poles or walking sticks?

Walking sticks are not necessary on the Annapurna Base Camp trek but they can be helpful. Trekking poles are also not necessary but they can help in steep areas and steep descents.
If you do decide to use poles, make sure you don’t carry them over your shoulder as this will cause injury to your neck and back. Poles should instead be carried under both arms with the handle sticking out in front of you.
Trekking poles come in different types but I want to Talk about two different poles which are my favorites. Leki (aluminum) or Black Diamond (carbon fiber). Both are strong, light, and sturdy so it comes down to personal preference. Carbon fiber is less likely to break than aluminum, but aluminum is the lighter weight which makes it better for extended periods of time carrying a heavy load.
